What is it?
In medical needling, a small drum shaped device with very fine protruding needles is used to induce collagen growth by puncturing skin which has been prepared with vitamins A, C, and other antioxidants for at least 3 weeks. This technique can be used on all areas of the face, neck and body. How does it work?During the treatment, the needles penetrate the epidermis but do not remove it, so the epidermis has only been punctured and will rapidly heal. Collagen induction is a natural response to the wounding of the skin in this fashion. When the needles penetrate the dermis, they initiate a fibroblast response which leads to the production of collagen. What is the recovery time? The skin will appear very bruised initially, but this will decrease significantly by the second day. By the 4th or 5th day the skin will be moderately pink and make-up may be applied. By day 7, most patients are almost fully recovered. When will I see results and how long will they last? Most patients generally begin to see results 3 to 9 months after treatment, as it takes time for the body to produce new collagen. Results are permanent in the sense that they will decrease only with your body's natural rate of aging, so they can last 5-10 years or more in some cases. How much will it cost? The FDA requires that each patient purchase their own Roll-CIT™ which costs $200.00. The vitamin A and C creams which are essential to this treatment also cost $200.00, and the cost of the procedure is $225.00. So the cost of the first treatment would be $625.00. However, once you purchase a Roll-CIT™, it is yours for life, and can be used again as many times as desired. It is also common to have an excess of preparatory cream after the treatment, so if a patient is interested in a second treatment, or having a different area of the body treated, it is quite possible that the only expense that will be incurred is the $225.00 for the procedure. |
